We had two massive snow storms that inspired me to write on what no more
slacking off means for business. With all that white stuff blanketing the city and sending many to the emergency room trying to get rid of it, appointments would usually get cancelled. But, this is a thing of the past. Unless it is a pandemic, your clients will show up!
Older generations like to hate on the younger generations but
you have to give them some respect when it comes to being organized. With over 60 cm of snow on the ground and transportation at a standstill, you would think business would grind to a halt. Not with these young folk. These are some of the perks they enjoy:
- They have a choice of several taxi services that usually show up no matter the weather. We had to either hike there or put it off to another day.
- They have access to the world which means they can find another business happy to serve them at their fingertips, if you can’t.
- Technology such as snow blowers, makes cleaning up your property after a heavy snowfall a 20 minute rather than a 2-hour thing or there is a service that clears their driveway. We had dads or other family members; kind male neighbours or we did it ourselves. This meant you woke up early and got a later bus – if it came.
- They arrive on time. If you are one of those businesses that is always behind, they will find somewhere else to go.
- News on your business whether good or bad can be circulated in minutes. Social media is a beast.
- They are a team that share all info on their group chat. Each can influence client behavior as their opinions matter.
What no more slacking means for business is having excellent customer service regardless of the weather. These young people are also teaching us not to let people walk all over you either – that disappeared with the pandemic too.
