If you are one of those people who is saying “the products I have stopped
working on my hair”, please know you are not alone. If you have used the same products on your hair for a few years, it is possible for your hair to have this problem!
You may have been noticing your hair does not get as smooth, it is not shiny and in most cases, it gets
frizzy. Here are several reasons this happens and you need to take note:
- Over time, the hair can become over moisturized. Conditioning treatments are helpful but it is possible to use too much.
- There can be product buildup on the scalp.
- You may be lacking nutrients and now you may have e.g. anemia. A blood test can tell what you are missing.
- Health issues can change the structure of your hair in the following months of your recovery. For any medications you take you need to read the contradictions. I have advised clients who were on strong medications to stop any chemical services for a few months to stop any breakage. Meanwhile you should get treatments and hair trims.
- Pregnancy can change the structure of the hair.
- Age changes the hair. It will need more moisture and depending on how it was treated over your lifetime, you may have less of it.
- The hair may have become thinner which means you have to change the products because they are heavy and weigh them down.

- Coloring the hair for gray coverage will change its structure over time.
- If you change the water source e.g. city water to well water or hard water, it will change the feel of your hair.
- The company that manufactures the product may have changed management. The new owners change the ingredients so they no longer match your requirements.
- The wrong hair care products can stop any nutrients penetrating the hair shaft.

I listed the most common reasons I found consulting with clients who say “the products I have stopped working on my hair. If you figure out where it went wrong, you can usually help restore your hair.
