Wigs are no longer taboo as in years gone by so if you are wondering “how

can I wear a wig if I can’t braid my hair underneath”,  there is a way around this.   At the salon, sometimes we get  people, notwithstanding how amazingly dressed they are, remove their wig to reveal how little they care for their hair!

Wigs look better if the hair is laying flat.  A wig cap can keep

the hair down, but it has caused many ladies to become lazy.  They will neglect their hair for extended periods of time and only when the hair starts breaking and forming knots, will they visit a hairstylist.

If you are not able to braid your hair or visit a salon to get

them braided for a wig, here is something you can do:

You will need:

  • Small rubber bands, made for hair.
  • Comb
  • Hair clips
  • Hair length should be at least 4-5 inches long.

Directions:

  • Detangle the hair.
  • Divide the hair in 3-4 sections from forehead to nape.  Clip them out of the way.
  • Make partings about 3-4 inches wide or larger, if the hair is long, along each section.
  • Pull the hair up at the first parting and put a rubber band to hold it in place, leaving the end free.
  • Stretch the end of the hair to the second parting. Put both together by adding another rubber band, leaving that end free.
  • Continue putting rubber bands and putting them in the next section until the last section. The ends of the hair at each section can be left free or secured to prevent bumps.

These are called illusion braids.  This is the simplest way to hold the hair in place if you were wondering “how can I wear a wig if I can’t braid my hair underneath.  If you can plait your hair, this method works too.
