After giving advice on a possible reason for the hair breakage, a client
asked ”can you lose hair if you don’t eat well? Food is still the most underrated thing that people associate with hair growth. Rather, most will spend thousands on products, storing them in bathroom cupboards as they continue to buy recommendations from friends and family.
It never ceases to amaze me how people with split ends to fill a small bag will refuse to get a
reasonable haircut. They give excuses such as “I am growing it long” or ‘it never grows so I don’t want to lose any length”. As a hairstylist, you can only stand by and see a perfectly beautiful head of hair go down the toilet. Before any of you say I did not explain it properly, believe me I have, in as many contexts as I could – to no avail. There are some battles you have to just walk away from!

Sometimes, to let them see reason, I go to the extreme and ask the client: If there was a product that
would immediately grow your hair to the lengths some of these manufacturers say, do you think the price would be that cheap? Wouldn’t people with hair loss from the 60s be bootlegging the formula to pay for their pensions? It stands to reason, therefore, that it is not just the outward products that aid hair growth, but what you consume also!
Therefore, can you lose hair if you don’t eat well? Yes. Chicken wings, burgers and pizza are not the only food groups the body needs for nutrition. The body uses all the vitamins and minerals from all the food groups. Eating only the junk you like and expecting long, lustrous hair is not sensible.
